As Terry said, the body shape is wrong for elk.
Great pictures!
SueWayne and Sue Rasmussenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16263704389927933275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3692035739459327458.post-63679140530198344822011-12-08T18:56:03.723-06:002011-12-08T18:56:03.723-06:00Well, not a hunter, per se, but my hunting is done...Well, not a hunter, per se, but my hunting is done with a camera. I am going to go out on a limb here and say deer. However, I've NEVER seen deer with a rack of antlers that large, but I have seen elk with them that size.

What throws me some more is the actual shape of the body. That is what makes me say deer. If it is that they are out on a ranch where they aren't hunted, perhaps deer can grow antlers that big, if they are given time.

If I could see them next to an object that would give me a better perspective on size, I could be more definite. Elk are definitely larger than deer. Do you hear any "trumpeting" from any of them? I think elk will call out but deer won't.

All that said, I will likely defer to more knowledgeable folks, especially since I can't see them in person.Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15864060537138071569noreply@blogger.com
